The Qorgan

Overview

The Qorgan is an Yzmir cell specialized in tracking and eliminating the nation’s enemies. It was founded by Wanjiru in the aftermath of The Severance War.

Founding

Wanjiru’s Decision

After uncovering The Isfet conspiracy during The Severance War, Wanjiru remained uneasy despite being celebrated as a hero and a key figure in the reconciliation. He came to believe that The Isfet had been backed by outside forces.

Purpose

The Horomancer decided to dedicate his life to uncovering the true masterminds behind the conflict. To protect Asgartha, he founded The Qorgan, an Yzmir cell specialized in tracking and eliminating the nation’s enemies.

Function

The Qorgan operates as a counter-intelligence organization within the Yzmir Faction, focused on identifying and neutralizing threats to Asgartha’s security. While under Yzmir jurisdiction, the organization maintains resources and operatives embedded across all six Factions.

Operations

Perjurer Investigation (243-393 AC)

Wanjiru conducted a secret investigation into The Perjurers for approximately 150 years. By May 393 AC, the investigation produced evidence of infiltration across all six Factions. The Qorgan assigned codenames to suspected operatives based on their methods:

  • The Anathema: Operates among Yzmir
  • The Censor: Operates within Ordis
  • The Sicarius: Linked to unsolved murders and assassinations
  • The Eugenist: Saskia Averina (confirmed)
  • The Iconoclast: Amahle Kalu (confirmed)

The Qorgan twice believed they had eliminated the Eugenist, and acknowledged uncertainty about whether some codenames referred to the same person or if additional Perjurers existed.

Kojo Oduro Surveillance (393 AC)

The Qorgan monitors Kojo Oduro due to concerns about his actions during the Battle of Madan Bay, where he appeared to strip reality of its essence—crossing a line beyond the Bravos’ normal fire affinity. Afanas Korovinovich expressed impatience with Qorgan resources being spent on this surveillance rather than pursuing the Perjurers directly.

Storvhit Origin Investigation (393 AC)

A Qorgan agent among the Muna investigates the Storhvit’s artificial origin.

Ariadne Surveillance Network (393 AC)

Yanna operates a surveillance system at The Screed using Ariadne, the Eidolon who serves as central knot for expedition threads into the City of Scholars. A hidden Rhombus of the Gestalt placed under Ariadne’s tunic allows monitoring of expedition movements through a secret Gestalt frequency whenever Ordis members are present. Secret laws were passed by carefully selected individuals to ensure maximum Aegis support for expedition teams, increasing Gestalt coverage for Qorgan surveillance.
