Sunisa

Sunisa is an Ordis Ensign who serves as aide-de-camp to Sigismar Synd. She is the daughter of a technomancer and grew up moving between Hadera, Arkaster, and Svarograd. She joined Ordis motivated by desire to protect others after witnessing Ordis troops defend striking miners during childhood.

Background

Family and Origins

Sunisa’s family moved frequently during her childhood, spending time in Hadera and Arkaster before settling, though originally from Svarograd. Her father worked as a technomancer, giving her an analytical approach that she described as making her sound more like Axiom than Ordis. She admitted to not being particularly well-versed in magic.

Hadera Strikes

As a child, Sunisa witnessed strikes in Hadera between the Quarrymen’s Guild and miners that nearly spiraled out of control. She remembered heated discussions in the family kitchen, demands, and gatherings in warehouses during the tense period. When Ordis troops arrived, everyone feared they would crush the movement, but the opposite occurred—Ordis secured the area without raising a hand against strikers, and the negotiator sent by The Monolith witnessed working conditions and defended the miners. This experience motivated Sunisa to join Ordis with a specific desire to protect others, unlike those who joined for bureaucratic careers.

Military Service

Sunisa holds rank of Ensign in The Aegis forces. She is described as cheeky and never at a loss for words, possessing a sharp tongue. Her file contained a record of insolence that would have disqualified her application with other reviewing officers, but her impertinence and independence were what won Sigismar Synd over when selecting an aide-de-camp. Wingspan also liked her. Sigismar would jokingly ask what she was doing in Ordis when she could have applied to Bravos, where her attitude would have been a better fit.

Sunisa led troops up the eastern flank of Cais Adarra through intense blizzard conditions while Sigismar Synd covered the rear, using her shield for protection against glacial wind.

393 AC, February - Assignment to Yzmir Expedition at Storvhit

Sunisa received orders assigning her to Afanas Korovinovich’s Yzmir expedition at Storvhit despite serving as Sigismar Synd’s aide-de-camp. When questioned about the unusual cross-faction assignment, she responded that it was not her place to question orders. She understood the expedition objective was to pull a device from The Aether to detect ideas in the region—a Tumult Observatory—though she was not well-versed in magic. During downtime, she maintained camp duties and wrote reports on large parchment.

Running into Atsadi’s rival Bravos expedition was accidental, but given harsh weather, both Alterers agreed to set up shared camp for the night. At the fire, Sunisa spoke with Bravos scout Sunniva Vavcarezza, noting the similarity of their names. When asked about her background, Sunisa explained her family’s geographic origins, her father’s technomancer profession, the Hadera strikes, and her motivation for joining Ordis. She accepted half an energy bar from Sunniva during their conversation.

393 AC, February - Belisenki Attack at Storvhit

When Belisenki triggered Yzmir alert wards around the camp perimeter, Sunisa immediately responded to the sound of countless tiny bells signaling a breach. She helped a companion fasten brigandine armor as Muna mages took positions. During the attack, temperature dropped several degrees instantly as the Belisenki swarm attacked and wind sent snow swirling, making it difficult to maintain weapon grip. Sunisa fought back-to-back with a Yzmir Initiate, drifting meters from the main group. When her companion was struck and dazed with Belisenki approaching, Sunisa slammed into the creature with her large targe shield, sending it tumbling into snow, then stood over the fallen scout extending her hand. Before the rescue could complete, Afanas Korovinovich unleashed a massive Alteration shockwave that hurled Sunisa and her companion into the air, and she was lost from sight as torrents of snow blasted in all directions while Yzmir mages raised magical barriers.

393 AC, June-August - Gestalt Communication with Sigismar at The Screed

Sunisa mentally connected with Sigismar Synd via Gestalt during an Ordis roll call at The Screed, ranting about ways to cook the annoying cockatoo Crier.

393 AC, June-August - Watching Recruitment Video Filming

Sunisa watched Sigismar Synd film a recruitment video with Nosk operating the camera, laughing when he flubbed the closing line.
