Constructs
Constructs are the signature alteration style and technology of the Axiom Faction. They are mechanical artifacts that enable human populations to protect themselves from the ravages of The Tumult without requiring the presence of an Alterer.
Purpose and Philosophy
The Axiom have made Constructs their trademark, embodying their philosophy that technology can democratize protection against The Tumult. Thanks to the Constructs they develop, human populations can defend themselves without needing an Alterer present.
This reality is particularly prevalent in areas of the peninsula where Mana is still somewhat unstable. While Constructs cannot replace the versatility and flexibility of Alterers, they provide a valuable alternative where the influence of Asgartha, and consequently the speed of intervention of Alterers, is drastically reduced.
Physical Form
Constructs are mechanical artifacts that can take various forms:
- Three-dimensional puzzles
- Cylindrical cryptexes
- Other configurations
All Constructs are covered in symbols from the Khyalo Alphabet.
Operation
Each symbol on a Construct represents a concept, like a hieroglyph. The process works as follows:
- Operators combine symbols by pressing keys or making them associate in space
- These combinations shape complex ideas
- The Kelon core contained within the Construct allows these ideas to express themselves and materialize within reality
Accessibility
A key feature of Constructs is their accessibility. Everyone is capable of learning the Khyalo Alphabet that brings together all these symbols, and thus manipulating Constructs, without necessarily having an innate talent for Alteration.
This democratization of alteration power aligns with the Axiom’s philosophy of making technology available to all social classes.
Creation
Constructs are created at The Athanor, near the Nexus energy core, where the concentrated Kelon energy can be properly integrated into the devices.
