Overview

Isaree Thongsuk, born 366 AC, is an Axiom Exalt and Alterer who specializes in geology and lapidary work. She is bonded with Pebble, a golem-like Chimera with Aerolith veins, through The Musubi ceremony. Born into a wealthy family in Hadera, Isaree played a central role in the 384 AC Enosha Strikes before fleeing to Arkaster and joining the Expeditionary Corps. She conducts secret research on Aerolith’s electromagnetic properties while working on mining operations in the Cloud Realm.

Background

Isaree was born in 366 AC to Rama Thongsuk, a geologist and philosopher, and Meredith, a shipowner affiliated with the Quarrymen’s Guild. Her father frequently descended into the Enosha Mines ostensibly to collect Aerolith samples, but used these visits to assist miners with correspondence and bureaucratic problems. He brought young Isaree to the mine gates and taverns where workers gathered, and she became known among the staff as “the professor’s kid.” Her childhood friend Jethro was among those she grew up with around the mines.

In 384 AC, the 384 AC Enosha Strikes erupted after a mine disaster killed approximately twenty miners. Isaree organized a field hospital during rescue efforts, then joined the strike committee as delegate. Her mother Meredith, elected board chair, ordered Isaree to withdraw and threatened disinheritance; Isaree refused and left the family home. The conflict escalated into violent confrontation before The Aegis intervened. Isaree was beaten while trying to block the shafts.

Following the violence, Isaree fled Hadera as a stowaway on one of her family’s airships. She reached Arkaster and found refuge at The Foundry, accepting work as an apprentice to Master Basem Falani, an old friend of her father who ran a gemsmith workshop. She discovered talent for lapidary work and began using Alteration to enhance her jewelry.

She earned degrees in geology and specialized in Aerolith studies, following her father’s academic path. She sent her earnings to miners’ families through the former head of the Lapidaries’ Guild and maintained correspondence with Rama Thongsuk. Meredith’s influence continued to follow her—funding disappeared and doors closed whenever Isaree attempted major projects. She applied to the Expeditionary Corps, beginning as a maintenance agent for The Ouroboros’s Aerolith core. When the Corps discovered new deposits of floating stone, her expertise led to assignment organizing mining preparations.

393 AC, June-September - First Encounter with Pebble

During a prospecting mission to assess a vein for mining safety, Isaree conducted preliminary analyses when a humanoid figure nearly three meters tall emerged from the rock wall behind her. The golem-like creature, later named Pebble, had veins of Aerolith across its stone skin and round, glassy rose-colored eyes. As Isaree retreated toward the cavern entrance, the creature placed its hand on the rock wall and caused Aerolith crystals to sprout from the stone.

393 AC, June-September - Gavroche Collecting Aerolith in Ruins

Isaree observed Gavroche collecting Aerolith nuggets from ruins in the Cloud Realm for energy specialists, singing about Voltaire and Rousseau while tossing fist-sized crystals into his basket.

393 AC, June-September - Demolition Operations with Angus

Isaree worked alongside Angus, a one-armed demolition expert, as he placed charges along Aerolith deposits to reveal veins without triggering chain reactions.

Isaree observed Vassili operating a Titan at an Aerolith quarry using a steering gauntlet that reproduced his movements in the machine.

During a Leviathan attack near Aerolith veins, Isaree summoned Medusa to petrify Bravos Eidolons whose presence endangered the site, enabling evacuation.

Isaree explored an abandoned depot in the Cloud Realm with architectural similarities to City of Scholars and Sofia, concluding the structures were built permanently rather than as temporary migration stations.

393 AC, October 23 - Halua Attack on Pelagonian Quarry

While exploring abandoned tunnels within an ancient Aerolith mine in the Pelagonian Quadrant, Isaree discovered advanced technology far exceeding current Asgarthan capabilities—drills, extractors, and empty Sap canisters designed to hold vaporized Sap for rationed use. When Halua attacked the quarry, Isaree and Pebble escaped from the collapsing mine shaft. A child pilot in a white-shelled mech saved her from a falling crane but was crushed in the collapse. From a rocky summit, Isaree witnessed the Axiom and Bravos bases burning and AES Sune approaching before Halua dove and struck the cruiser.
