Lucan
Overview
Lucan is an insectoid Leviathan inhabiting the Pelagonian Quadrant of the Cloud Realm. Classified as high risk by the Expeditionary Corps, Lucan is drawn to Aerolith and attacks convoys transporting the precious ore.
Physical Appearance
Lucan displays similarities to the Lucanidae (stag beetle) family, measuring approximately 800 meters in length and 500 meters in width. It possesses three pairs of legs ending in enormous black claws, two pairs of membranous wings, a double frontal horn, mandibles, and two pairs of compound eyes. Its thick chitinous carapace makes it a formidable adversary.
Behavior
Lucan is a discreet Leviathan that lives in seclusion on some of the highest floating islands, far above the clouds. Most of the time it remains motionless and concealed as long as it is not disturbed. However, it is drawn to Aerolith and attacks convoys transporting the ore—unlike Halua, which attacks vessels without apparent feeding motivation. Lucan is capable of flying at speeds exceeding 80 km/h with remarkable precision of movement.
Timeline
393 AC, June-September - Aerolith Convoy Attack
Lucan attacked an Axiom Aerolith convoy, emerging from clouds to target an ore block anchored to a zeppelin, eviscerated an airship’s balloon with its horn, and pursued the Aerolith deposit while ignoring crew.
393 AC - Whiplash Crossing
Lucan joined a procession of Leviathans led by Halua through The Whiplash, consuming Mana along the route to create a low-Tumult slipstream for the Expeditionary Corps armada. The procession included Sagitta, Alelo, Koi, and Zaratan.
