Ordis Glyph

Overview

The Ordis Glyph is a specific tattoo in the shape of a small diamond, reminiscent of The Monolith. It serves as both a symbol of membership in the Ordis faction and a functional interface for connecting to The Gestalt.

Symbolic Meaning

By permanently applying this symbol, Ordis followers affirm their membership in the Faction and declare that:

  • Their individuality fades in favor of the collective
  • Their personal interests will never outweigh those of their tutelary organization
  • They are an essential link in the homogeneous and efficient whole

Functional Purpose

The Glyph serves a utilitarian function beyond mere symbolism. Through it, Ordis followers can link their minds through Coalescence, whether to:

  • Converse telepathically
  • See through another’s eyes
  • Share perceptions and knowledge
  • Transmit emotions

The connection is limited by physical distance, and linked minds must authorize the connection to prevent it from being experienced as an intrusion.

Requirements for Receiving the Glyph

Before being granted this honor, aspirants must demonstrate:

  • Diligence
  • Efficiency
  • Integrity
  • Loyalty

Only after a long initiation, consisting of examinations and intense periods of novitiate, can they aspire to enter the Faction and receive the Glyph tattoo.

Integration with the Gestalt

Once tattooed with the Ordis Glyph, followers become perpetually connected to others through The Gestalt network. This connection means that few Ordis members suffer from loneliness, as they can continuously access the pooled consciousness of their faction.

Loss of Individuality

The Ordis readily sacrifices the loss of individuality that comes with the Glyph for the many advantages offered by the pooling of consciousness. However, being cut off from The Gestalt—whether through distance or other means—constitutes a terrible tear, compounded by an exacerbated sense of longing for those accustomed to constant connection.
